Project SEE-KID
The research project SEE-KID is carried out at the Upper Austrian Research, Department for Medical-Informatics in cooperation with the Upper Austrian University for Applied Sciences, Department of Software Engineering for Medicine.
The goal of this project is to build a biomechanical, interactive 3D simulation of the human eye, its orbita and its muscles, to simulate common surgical eye muscle operations (transposition, shortening, splitting, etc.) in a graphic interactive way that is familiar to an experienced surgeon. Additionally, the system can be used for education and training purposes, because by means of extensive possibilities for parameterization of the human eye model, common pathological cases of human eye motility can be modeled - and subsequently treated. The main goal of the software project SEE++ consists of the realization of a biomechanical model of the human eye. This mainly mathematical description of the oculomuscular apparatus forms the basis for the system to give proper predictions on simulation and treatment of pathological cases.
